Femicide

The word Ensler, author of "The Vaginia Monologues", attributes to the 10-year war "fought on the bodies of women" in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, "where thousands of women and girls have been systematically raped during a 10-year war that some say has cost more lives than any other war since World War II."

How has this happened and what accounts for the world's mute response?

Read the article Woman: 'They wanted to destroy my body and spirit' to learn more.

Read the article. Events like these make it hard to see the "god" in every human. How terribly broken we are! I think reaching out to the young men is a necessary step. They hold the power to change things, sadly even more than the women. Of course the victims deserve our attention as well. What to do...?
God help us.

Thank you for this post. I read the article and googled others similar and read those. I feel appalled and horrified and wonder what the hell am I doing on this planet.

It's an insane world, I don't know what to do. It is said you change the world by changing yourself. Perhaps that is the key, I don't know.

On a lighter note we do have the 'Vagina Monologues' here at work. I keep meaning to read them but like of lot of things to do with reading, never get around to it. However, over Christmas I plan to give that script a read.
